Vos Wins ASOFIA National Awards

Vos Wins 2 National Awards for the Melbourne Park Redevelopment.

Vos Construction & Joinery are thrilled to advise that Vos was successful in winning 2 national ASOFIA (“Australian Shop and Office Fitting  Industry Association”) Interior Fitout Awards on the weekend as follows:
 
•         Australian Made Award Commercial – Melbourne Park Redevelopment;
•         Tasmanian Interior Fitout of the Year – Melbourne Park Redevelopment.
 
The Melbourne Park project involved the redevelopment of Margaret Court Arena.  Our joinery business was engaged by the head contractor, Lend Lease, to undertake the following works:
 
•         Supply and install the timber feature beams that surround the outer façade of the main playing court.  These laminated timber beams provide both an aesthetic and a structural element to the building.  When the roof is open, they provide critical support to the structural steel that supports the roof by preventing it from bending excessively or warping.  The timber feature beams were cut, sanded, coated and finished in our Kingston workshop.  They were then transported to Melbourne.  This aspect of the project was challenging both in terms of the unique detail and the logistics of moving over 5000 lineal metres of large timber beams (up to 7.2m in length) into a vertical position within the confines of the building site;
•         Manufacture and install the stair balustrade panelling in bright feature colours.  These stair balustrades define the 4 quadrants of the building; and
•         Manufacture and install the feature bars with stone tops and high gloss laminate fronts set off with timber and mirrored stainless detail.
 
All aspects of the work undertaken by Vos are key interior features of the building and contribute to a truly spectacular public space.  The national recognition of this work demonstrates yet again the exceptionally high standard we achieve.
